Construction machinery

The term construction machinery or “yellow goods” includes machinery for

• setting up a construction site
• the transportation of building materials and construction machinery
• the execution of a construction project

This includes caterpillars, shovel excavators, wheel loaders, pile drivers, mixers, concrete pumps, mortar machines, milling machines, pavers, screeds, asphalt stoves, tippers, working platforms, drilling equipment, pipe layers, etc..

Due to the diverse requirements placed on these machines and machine parts, not only the steel grades of the general structural steels according to EN 10025-2 are used.

Loader blades, excavator buckets, tipper bodies, grabs and knife edges are largely made from steels from the wear-resistant HB 400/450/500/600 series in order to increase the service life compared to normal structural steels.

High-strength plates in accordance with EN 10025-6 and EN 10149-2 are used in trailer structures, vehicle frames, axle structures, beams and body-in-white pillars, among other things, in order to save weight and thus reduce operating costs.
