What is S355J2C+N?

S355J2C+N is a non-alloy structural steel designed for demanding applications. The designation “S355” represents a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa, while “J2” describes an impact toughness of 27 Joules at -20°C. The “C” indicates that the steel is cold formable, and the “+N” signifies that it has been normalized or normalizing rolled.

Thanks to its high strength, excellent toughness, and good weldability, S355J2C+N is ideal for use even under difficult conditions and low temperatures.

Chemical composition of S355J2C+N

S355J2C+N setzt sich aus einer ausgewogenen Mischung von Kohlenstoff (C), Silizium (Si), Mangan (Mn), Phosphor (P), Schwefel (S) und Stickstoff (N) zusammen. Die niedrigen Gehalte an Phosphor und Schwefel tragen zur verbesserten Zähigkeit und Schweißbarkeit bei, während der optimierte Mangananteil die Festigkeit des Stahls unterstützt.
